Director Maniratnam's recent Tamil film 'Ponniyin Selvan: 1' is based on the popular Tamil classic novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy hit the theatres last Friday (September 30th), the film that is made with a whopping budget of Rs 500 crore has reportedly minted over Rs 230 crores in first three days of its release from across all the languages so far.
